LANCASTER CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT PROGRAM, 2009-2010 |
Our theme for the year is It’s time to be who we are! And as the community of
Catholic High, we keep with the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church- we are
a Eucharistic people, we are a family who supports one another, we are the Body
of Christ.
The mission of the Spiritual Life Department is to assist the students, faculty
and staff with their spiritual journey. We endeavor to help bring our mission to
life...
As Catholic co-educational diocesan secondary school, Lancaster Catholic High
School offers a quality education which helps students integrate their faith
with the knowledge they acquire and the skills they develop, so they may serve
the community as responsible adults. Lancaster Catholic is open to all students
who are capable of maintaining and willing to adhere to the academic standards
and discipline policies of the school. We strive to make a Lancaster Catholic
education accessible to all who support its endeavors.
And to help all of our Catholic high family understand our philosophy...
Lancaster Catholic High School affirms that our primary purpose is to offer a
superior education to all our students in the context of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, in keeping with the traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic
Church. We endeavor to develop the whole person spiritually, intellectually and
socially, ultimately leading to the larger goals of Christianity - truth,
charity, justice, freedom, peace and salvation.
We do this in many ways. Mass in our chapel weekly, prayer though out the day,
retreats, service, special guests and numerous opportunities to live our faith.
Below please find descriptions of all the spiritual opportunities we will be
providing this year.
The retreat program is a vital part of our students' experience at LCHS. Never
content to rest on our laurels we review the programs annually, make adjustments
where necessary and always keep an eye out for new, meaningful experiences. We
are pleased to provide you with the retreat program details for the upcoming
school year.

Mass is celebrated each week in our chapel. Students are encouraged to join us
when their schedule permits. Anyone who would like to come to Mass should stop
in the Spiritual Life Center for a pass. Passes need the approval of the teacher
or moderator of the period .
The Chapel is always open for personal prayer. We encourage students to stop by.
On Friday’s we offer Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel. Also on
Friday, during the last 15 minuets of each lunch period we recite the Rosary.
Students from lunch may join us.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Our culture confronts all of us, but especially our young people, with
challenges each day. By offering prayer before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament
we can spiritually assist all the members of our LCHS family in meeting these
challenges. Last year the Spiritual Life Department at Lancaster Catholic High
School began a new program designed to do just that by hosting Adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament each Friday in our school Chapel. Parents, friends and alumni
committed to Chapel time each Friday, and students, faculty and staff were
encouraged to join them.
Our goals with this program are simple.
· To provide students with a regular chance to pray and spend time before the
Blessed Sacrament.
· To encourage parents, alumni and friends of LCHS to directly join our effort
each week by committing time to prayer – our goal is to have at least two
adorers each hour.
How can you help?
· Pick an hour (or more or less) that is convenient between 8 am and 3 pm
Fridays
· Call us and sign-up for your time
· In order to maintain the security and safety of our students we’ll ask that
you comply with the requirements mandated by the Diocese of Harrisburg for those
who volunteer with school youth. A disclosure form and a short online lesson and
quiz will need to be completed. We will supply you with this information when
you call to sign-up.
Please, prayerfully consider this important ministry at LCHS. If your schedule
does not permit you to join us in person, we ask that you keep the students,
faculty and staff in your daily prayers as we strive to fulfill Christ’s command
to spread the Good News of the Gospel. We look forward to hearing from you and
thank you in advance for your time and prayers. To get more information or to
sign up to join our Adoration Team please contact Mr. Bamert at 509-0315 x123 or
via email at abamert@lchsyes.org.
